The conversion course is for current pilots who wish to obtain their APPI 3 certification, with an emphasis on theoretical knowledge. It is also a good refresher for pilots who have been absent from flying and wish to pick up the sport again safely.

This course is available only to pilots with previous flying experience and can show proof of 30 flights or more.

Description:

• 7 sessions theory workshop.

  • Subjects:

    • Mechanics of Flight - How a wing flies, stalls, collapses, limits of our glider, basic terminology, Forces of flight, drag, flying our wing

    • Mentality - How to handle the risks, how to progress safely in paragliding

    • Weather - Global Weather and Systems, Properties of Air, Stability & Instability, Weather Forecasting

    • Air Law - Navigating international air regulations, a study on Hong Kong regulations, altimetry

    • Equipment - care and maintenance, safety equipment usage

• Assessment of ground handling, depending on the ground handling session we will recommend either additional training and what needs to be improved. If ground handling is to a good level, then students may proceed to flight test.

• APPI 3 Pilot certification upon passing the written exam and objectives of APPI 3 practical flight test completed.

• If students require more training, we will provide a roadmap of how to reach the required level.

Requirements:

• You can join this course if you have previous flying experience

• Must show proof of experience of a minimum of 30 flights

• Join the Hong Kong Paragliding Association, As a member of HKPA you will receive the required third-party liability insurance in order to start your flying lessons.

• Minimum Age 18 (or the minimum age of 14 with parental consent)

• Reasonable fitness

Schedule:

Each class is scheduled by coordinating with all students and instructors at a suitable time. Generally, we will aim to hold one subject per week (3 hours each) for a total of 6 classes, and 1 day for the written exam/review. Usually, classes are held once a week during the weekends.

PROMOTIONAL PRICE:
